Another Year Older

Eight years ago today, my baby girl was born two months early. For a month she lived away from us--a mess of wires, and needles, lights and incubators. Oh how we missed her so. She finally came home on Valentine's Day....which, not surprisingly, was one of the very best days of my life.

And look how much she's grown!!

Happy birthday to my beautiful daughter.

Happy birthday! She was amazingly tiny -- and were those preemie dark glasses in the first picture? Here's to a wonderful 8th birthday celebration -- I know you'll make it special. And she's lucky to have a mom like you!

Thanks Ann! She was wearing a mask that looked like sunglasses to protect her eyes from the bili lights (for jaundice). She had two sticky Velcro tabs that were stuck to her temples so the mask could be easily removed. It was pretty horrifying to see my child like this...but of course there was a very happy ending! =)

I was remembering those days myself, today. And remembering, too, how I made a later than midnight run to the hospital with (your own) stored "mother's milk" from my freezer as they had run out at the hospital....Happy birthday to my one and only beautiful grandaughter!
