Hi Alison! So sorry it took me so long to visit you. Life has been beyond hectic, with two trips (Vermont and Maine), a billion writing deadlines for my job, and the loss of our dear sweet Sheltie.
Thank you for your kind words about her. We went on a camping trip just a few days after she died and the change of scenery was good for everyone.
It looks like you are having a fabulous time on the Cape! I love all your photos, and the mention of some of my local favorites like Satucket Farm and Lora Brody's cookbooks are just plain fun.
I would still love to get together for coffee while you're here. I saved your phone number and will give you a ring when I get caught up on my deadlines.
Can I come weekending with you? That looks like such an amazing time. I've always wanted a weekend house on a lake or the water somewhere. A girl can dream...
Alison, I would like to be the little blonde boy in the background eating corn. Actually, I think that might be me back in 1990 when my mother used to cut my hair with a bowl over my head ;)
A Girl: that's me, although I'm not sure I qualify anymore at 34.
A Market: the Farmers Market is where you will find me on Sunday mornings. Otherwise, I'll be roaming the aisles at Bristol Farms, Whole Foods, or Trader Joes.
A Meal: something seasonal, something fresh, something simple, and something delicious.
Alison is a recipe developer and stay-at-home mom, obsessed with her next meal and passionate about buying her food from local growers, which in Southern California shouldn't be difficult, but is harder than it sounds. Luckily, she spends summers in gorgeous Cape Cod, where farm-fresh food is as accessible as it is delicious.
If you would like to post or publish any of this blog's contents including photographs, text or recipes, please ask first. I do like to share, especially when I'm given due credit! Email me with any questions at alisonlaney@aol.com.
